Post 12: January 23rd – If You Can’t Beat Them, Join Them

Hello people,

This a summary of my goals performance this week

  1. Be More Thankful

This week I thanked to a guy at the office. He is an old man, with a very strong Australian accent, and he doesn’t understand my accent very well. Our conversations are so awkward –half nodding, half apologising, and many times those finish with “I’ll send you an email”.

But this week I decided to thank him for his patience, for trying. Not everyone is patient or tries. I said to him, “I know my English is not very clear, and sometimes I don’t know how to express my ideas properly, and I know you are busy. I just want to thank you for your patience, for speaking to me slowly, and specially for smiling to me when you don’t understand” to which he replied “Would you better send me an email?”

  1. Save $4600 AUD

We have been saving as much as possible. This Thursday is Australia Day, we had a fantastic invitation to a concert that night, but because it is not in our city we would have to pay a hotel. We cannot afford it. We are saving. And although it was really hard to say no, we did it. If we want to achieve anything in life we have to prioritise and stop being condescended with ourselves.

  1. Make 1% Profit in Trading Account

Our profit has decreased in less than a week from 1.5% to 0.8%. As I mentioned from the beginning the hardest part is not to take a winning position, but to win consistently and avoid losses. We have a week to put our portfolio back up to 1%.

  1. Read Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss

I haven’t finish this book yet, but if I am sure of anything this month, is that I will finish this book. I have started the last chapter of the book “Widsom”. This chapter starts by advising about cybersecurity. Highly Recommended. Page 494 of 674.

  1. Improve Aerobic performance: Beep Test Level 8

I took the beep test again, this time I got 4. What was I thinking when I decided to set this goal? I don’t like cardio *absolutely hate it*, so I have increased my cardio sessions. And because I know I need extra motivation and discipline to improve my performance I have decided to join an athletic club. – If you can not beat them, join them.

Final comment, Have you been follow us through the challenge? If you have, you will know that Pat has been waking up at 3:00am every day, doing extra cardio at night in order to achieve his main goal this month, lose 8 Kilos. I must say, his motivation this month has been so contagious, he is nailing it! I could not be more proud of him.
